The only thing more predictable than the Detroit Lions being terrible and their ownership acting clueless is Detroit Free Press columnist and condescending douche bag Mitch Albom running to his laptop to defend Matthew Stafford after the former first-round pick’s most recent abysmal performance.
You had to know that the Keebler Elf was going to stick up for his boy after Stafford was unceremoniously benched Sunday during the Lions’ embarrassing loss at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals.
How did I know this would occur? Well, the same way I know that lobbyists who give politicians seven-figure political donations via a Super PAC end up getting what they want from their bought-and-paid-for elected official.
Not only is Condescending Baggins friends with Stafford, Albom’s radio program is the exclusive home for Stafford’s live radio interviews. But even more egregious is the fact that Stafford contributed a MILLION DOLLARS to one of Albom’s pet charities.
Now, I have no issue with Mr. Kelly Stafford making that HUGE donation to Albom’s charity. In fact, it was a great thing for him to do and a much better expenditure than was Draymond Green’s ridiculous gift to a collegiate basketball program.
My problem isn’t with Stafford. It’s with the journalistically compromised tree-house dweller. It is quite obvious that Albom can’t put aside his friendship with Stafford when discussing the failed QB. He should obviously recuse himself from writing about his BUDDY.
How else can you explain Frodo’s column in Monday’s paper in which he defended Stafford on all fronts? How dare Jim Caldwell warn Stafford about throwing interceptions; publicly embarrass the sheltered QB; or put all of the blame on #9?
And the best is this passive aggressive comment from the little shitbag:
Now, with all the vitriol spewing around the Lions, few people this morning will be sympathetic to Stafford, even if they were the same ones predicting great things for him nine months ago.
Umm, what???? Are you fucking kidding me?
And I am not the only one who has noticed the conflict of interest that Albom has when it comes to his charitable partner …..
Shocking: Mitch Albom — who does charity work and weekly radio with Matthew Stafford — strongly defends the QB. http://t.co/XifxkhcLlU

The Free Press and Nabisco’s own think so little of you that they don’t even bother to put a disclaimer in the article mentioning that Stafford once wrote a check to Albom with six zeroes in it for Frodo’s charity (like when Grantland tells its readers that they are also owned by Disney when they are reviewing a Pixar film)!!!!!
It’s disgusting but it should be of no surprise to anyone when you consider that Albom is the one calling the shots at the paper. Nobody is going to tell the “Little Fella” what he can and can’t do. Even after he humiliated the Freep — and SHOULD have been fired — over the Mateen Cleaves/Jason Richardson scandal.
Or when he further brought shame to his employer with his embarrassing “Doctor Football” columns, which were lazily written for the sole purpose of Albom meeting his quota of sports-related pieces for the year. But here is the best part of Albom’s compromised defense of his pal.
Even the paid propagandist who writes for the Lions OWN website was less charitable than Frodo.
Yep, former Detroit News writer and current propagandist for Tom Lewand and Company Tim Twentyman was more honest than Albom about Stafford and his performance. Now, keep in mind, this is a hack who gets paid by Martha Firestone Ford DIRECTLY……
Stafford with pick No. 3. Threw it right to Peterson. Might be time for Orlovsky. #AZvsDET

What a terrible throw by Stafford. He leads him there and he’s still running. Or just run for the first down. Brutal start. #AZvsDET

Matthew Stafford’s @PFF grade through first three games is -13.7, by far the worst among all QBs. Andrew Luck is the next worst at -7.7.

Bottom @PFF grades vs. Cards: Off: Stafford (-3.3), Waddle (-3.1), Tomlinson (-3.0) Def: Jones (-1.7), Cudjo (-1.2), Wilson (-1.2)

That’s how bad Albom comes off here. While he is carrying Stafford’s water, the man who is actually PAID to do so is dumping the bucket on #9’s head!!!!!!
Of course, Twentyman has never received a million-dollar check from Stafford.
