We are in the midst of our third Detroit Worst Sports Media Personality tournament and I can confidently say we have never had a more interesting Fucked-Up Four (FUF) than this one.
Earlier today, the field was cut in half from the Excrement Eight to the Fucked-Up Four. The last men standing are Lynn Henning of the Detroit News; Ryan Ermanni of Fox-2 and 105.1; Scott “The Whale” Anderson of 97.1; and Drew Sharp of the Detroit Free Press.
In 2012, the FUF consisted of Michael Rosenberg (the eventual champion), Terry Foster, Pat Caputo and Jeff Riger.
Last year, the FUF finalists were Foster (the champ), Vincent Goodwill, Henning and Mitch Albom.
Incredibly, we have had three tourneys and 10 different final four participants. It speaks to the depth of sewage we have in the local sports media.
Anyway, here are the Excrement 8 results …..

None of the matchups were especially close so DSR Managing Editor Justin Spiro renamed the “Excrement 8″ the “Anticlimactic 8.”
The prohibitive tournament favorite (Henning) demolished the outgoing Goodshill after vanquishing last year’s champ in the previous round. It would appear nothing can stop the Deacon from cutting down the nets in 2015.
Sharp was also a predictable FUF finalist as he was in by far the easiest bracket. Even DSR bad guy Ratt Dreary couldn’t compete with the balding troll.
The biggest upset so far in the tourney has been Ermanni’s prodigious run but, considering he doesn’t believe alleged rapists should be investigated by the media, you can understand his 1989 Glen Rice-esque performance.
And finally, the Virginal Manatee reached the Fucked-Up Four with his victory over Rachel McAdams’ brother in “Wedding Crashers.”
We will have a comprehensive breakdown of the remaining participants on Wednesday evening and the Fucked-Up Four will start at 11pm that evening.
